A small step against having too many ideas?
It is the 2nd of October. During the week, after my last post: https://toomanyideas.blog/hello-world/. I spent a good hour looking at my list, trying to decide what formula, ranking system or anything else that I could possibly do to try and organise my "too many ideas". I decided on two variables, viability and time consumption for now.
I thought this system would be great and I'd have a better understand about what I want to do and what would be most impactful and what would bring me the most joy. But... I had a workshop after posting that talked about two different approaches to a small business and to other aspects of life.
That is to play to win rather than playing to not to lose.
I had heard this before and it has given me a great realisation. I used to spend hours designing the best system to organise my life, to be meticulous about what I was going to do and when and then feel the disappointment when I still stayed at the same place I was before. So even though there are probably many reasons to why I haven't made steps forward with any of these ideas for a long time and let's just make a small step.
From my last post I wanted my hobbies to follow the structure.
- One that challenges you mentally
- One that keeps you fit
- One that is creative and shows expression.
- One that just simply makes you happy.
The ones I have chosen for now are :
- Begin meditating again - A challenge for my current busy mind
- Rejoin the gym - I actually enjoy exercise when I do it... Just need the push to start
- Learn the saxophone - A teenage dream inpired by Lisa Simpson, baker street and of course epic sax guy. Bought around 15 years ago, has been gathering dust ever since.
- Get outside more - I love the outdoors
So I've made some small steps
- Finally cashed in on my free 2 year subscription for headspace
- Joined the gym today
- Bought some new reeds for the sax
- Went for a walk.
Now, apart from number 4, these are all just setting myself up, making one small step. Let's see how this goes.
Until next week.
All the best
